Jennifer McConville is a licensed physical therapist with years of experience treating patients in various settings and is currently working with the elderly at Cedar Crest, a sub-acute rehabilitation facility in NJ. She received her BS from Ithaca College in 1986. Jennifer, a lifelong resident of NJ, is currently an “empty-nester” living with her husband Tim and their precious dog, Lexi. She is the mother of 3 boys, Michael and Ryan, both working towards degrees in healthcare, and her middle son, Christopher, who died in 1996 when he was just 5 months old due to SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Immediately following the loss of Christopher, Jennifer and her husband began attending a (SIDS) support group where they connected with other bereaved parents including Pam and Paul Caine. It was within this group that they found comfort and strength that ultimately allowed them to channel their grief into something positive. Inspired by Christopher’s spirit, they dedicated themselves to helping others while determined to play a role in the eradication of SIDS! Jennifer and Tim sponsored The Christopher James McConville Memorial Golf Outing for 14 years raising over $1 million earmarked to fund SIDS research, support services for bereaved families, training and educational materials for parents, healthcare professionals and childcare providers as well as to promote public awareness campaigns. In addition, Jennifer was trained to be a Peer Mentor by the SIDS Center of NJ and participated in Police/EMS training programs in the NYC/NJ area. She also served as a Board Member for the CJ Foundation for SIDS for several years.
Jennifer’s greatest hope in serving on the Board of Griffin Cares is to continue connecting and supporting other families facing unimaginable loss so that they may always know they are not alone in their grief.
