Griffin Cares Foundation (“us,” “we,” “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of Personal Information. This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes our data collection, usage, and practices that apply in connection with the use of our website (www.griffincaresfoundation.org) (“Website”) and Website Services (as defined in our Terms of Use). This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party websites, service or applications, even if they are accessible through the Website Services.

Personal information that is collected through the Website Services is covered by the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected. We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do so, we will update the “Last updated” date above to indicate when those changes will become effective.

Our primary goals in collecting personal information are to enable your access and use of the Website Services, to facilitate our mission to support for families who are coping with the death of a baby through pregnancy loss, stillbirth or during the first months of life, and to enable fundraising by our non-profit foundation. This includes processing activities intended to provide and improve the Website Services, to administer your use of the Website Services, and to respond to any inquiries you have submitted to us. To achieve these goals, we may collect data information that can reasonably be used to directly or indirectly identify a person (hereinafter “Personal Information”).

This information may include:

Contact Information: Depending on how you choose to use the Website Services, you may provide us with contact information such as your: name, physical address (including zip code or postal code), email address, and telephone number.

Device Information: Depending on how you access the Website, we may collect information regarding the type of device on which the Website is accessed, the operating system, browser information, name and version of the device used to access the Website, device manufacturer, application version accessed on your device, device ID, IP address, and geolocation data.

Support Needs: We may collect certain information about your support needs. This information may include your age, gender, race or ethnicity, family, loss experiences, interests and needs, and other such information you may provide.

Payment and Billing Information:  While we do not directly collect or store payment information and we use third-party payment processors for donations, certain related billing information may be collected.

Information about You Provided by Third Parties:  In certain instances, we may also acquire Personal Information (including personal, demographic, or behavioral information) about you from third parties, including our service providers.

Usage Data: Usage data is collected when you use the Website Services, including pages of our Website that you visit, time and date of your visit, time spent on those pages, and other information relating to your participation in Website Services.

Information Collected Using Cookies and other Web Technologies: Like many website owners and operators, we use automated data collection tools such as Cookies to collect certain information.  “Cookies” are small text files that are placed on your hard drive by a Web server when you access our Website. We respect the choices that you make with respect to your privacy and do our best to honor verified requests to:

  • Access to your Personal Information to know what information we have collected about you;
  • Correct your Personal Information if such data is out of date or incorrect; or
  • Delete any Personal Information that you have provided to us (please note that if you choose to exercise your right to delete, we cannot delete your Personal Information without also canceling any accounts you may have with us).

When you use the Website Services, certain information is collected using web technologies as described above. That technology can sometimes be used to track your online activities and provide you with personalized advertising. If you do not wish to submit your Cookies or receive advertising, you can set your browser to refuse all or some browser Cookies, or to alert you when Cookies are being sent.

Our Policy Toward Children

The Website Services are intended for individuals who at least 18 years old. We do not direct our marketing activities to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information of a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information from our files as soon as possible.

Join our Peer Mentor Team

Support a peer who is new to grief

The Griffin Cares Peer Mentor Program is open to bereaved parents who have lived with loss for at least one year and feel that they are in a place in their grief journey where they can support someone else. Birthing parents and non-birthing partners are welcome to participate. All mentors must complete a training program and meet with our Peer Mentor Team prior to taking on a mentee. Ongoing support for mentors is provided.
